COMRU do it above ground.
Many assume that people who spend their life underground are scared of the sunlight. So to prove them wrong spent their training session this month in total sunlight. And not just normal sunlight but bright sunlight.
Greenside lead mine, in the shadow (although not today) of Hellvellyn has a rich varied history, with many entrances.
But to get the full extent of centuries of mining from above ground you need to climb a bit. Once you have you can see the interesting ways the wastes were disposed of....and more impressively the forces of nature at the collapse.
After a morning of checking entrances and workings...an afternoon of playing on ropes and mid rope rescue.
